Public and Private institutions advised to emulate SUA in sports and games

Morogoro Regional Administrative Secretary, Engineer Emmanuel Kalobelo has urged the government and private institutions in the region to emulate the example of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) by establishing sports for staff in their institutions as doing so helps keep employees together, maintain cohesion and strengthen their health.

Engineer Kalobelo gave the advice on 26th May 2021 at Sokoine University of Agriculture sports grounds while closing the staff sports and games competitions famously known as CHIBUNDA CUP, the season of 2020/2021.

Engineer Kalobelo said the Chibunda Cup competition should be a catalyst for other public and private institutions to create a culture of organizing and coordinating sports events without waiting for invitations from outside the region.

“I thank the management of SUA for organizing these sports and games competitions in partnership with CRDB and NMB banks, this is a very good thing for our staff, as we need people with better health, but also through sports we get entertainment, employment, and good relationships in the community, so there is a need to have various sports events in our government institutions and those in private,”said Engineer Kalobelo

Eng. Kalobelo used the opportunities to encourage citizens in the Morogoro region to regularly participate in sports and physical exercise so as to strengthen their immune system especially in this time when many countries in the world are fighting against the COVD 19 pandemic.

For his part, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Sokoine University of Agriculture (Academic) Prof. Maulid Mwatawala explained that the university continues to make various efforts in collaboration with the government and other donors to improve sports infrastructure including building new stadiums.

The CHIBUNDA CUP tournament was concluded with a series of games involving the sponsors of the competition which are CRDB and NMB banks where in the first game SUA team managed to beat NMB staff football team by three goals to zero and in the second game, SUA conceded two goals to zero against the CRDB Bank team. All participants who did well in the competition received various prizes.
